The YMCA of Greater Saint John announces the phased re-opening of its facilities and programming starting May 19, 2020. The Y is taking its first steps to re-open after the eight-week temporary closure of all its facilities in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John, in collaboration with YMCA Canada, has launched YMCA at Home as a free virtual activity and wellness platform in response to country-wide facility closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This resource, which is available now, connects users of all ages and fitness levels to classes, children’s programming, and personal wellness resources in the comfort and safety of their homes.

The YMCA and United Way of Greater Saint John have partnered to launch the Y Home Delivery Service to serve members of the local community who lack the means to obtain critical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Y’s large base of staff and volunteers will coordinate the free curbside delivery and pick-up of essential items for vulnerable persons. The program launched on Monday, April 20, and is currently being offered to residents of the Y’s service area, which stretches from St. Stephen to Sussex.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John is celebrating volunteers virtually this week during National Volunteer Week April 19 to 25. This is an especially important time to take a moment and recognize all those individuals who selflessly dedicate their time and commit to improving the quality of life for others in our communities.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John, along with other YMCAs across Canada, has launched a series of online fitness classes called YThrive Home. The YMCA remains committed to helping everyone achieve their goals and stay connected to their communities. YThrive Home will allow them to do that from the comfort of their homes.

Saint John, NB – YMCA Newcomer Connections is thrilled to have hosted the Employer Engagement Breakfast and Forum (EEBF) on February 25 at the Delta Hotels by Marriot Saint John. Members of the YMCA Newcomer Connections team met with 60 community stakeholders from 25 local organizations, including representatives of the business community, local government, social development organizations, and more, to spark meaningful conversation about the challenges faced by newcomers and businesses alike in hiring and retaining workers in this region.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John has announced the details of the 2020 Red Triangle Award Gala as well as the recipients of the Red Triangle and Leader to Watch Awards at a press conference held today at the Saint John Regional Y.

This year’s Red Triangle Award Gala is a significant milestone for the YMCA of Greater Saint John as the event will also celebrate 30 Years of Red Triangle Award recipients.

The Annual Red Triangle Award Gala, presented by Emera New Brunswick, will be held at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal on April 30, 2020 at 6:00pm. The elegant reception will feature delicious hot and cold hors d’oeuvres.

Over the past 30 years, the YMCA has recognized many outstanding citizens that have demonstrated a commitment to the community through their leadership and volunteer service. The Red Triangle Award has been presented to 34 individuals and three groups since 1990. The Leader to Watch Award was implemented in 2002 and has been presented to 16 individuals.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John, in partnership with Aquila Tours, is marking Peace Week 2019 with the installation of a new, permanent mural in the city’s south end. This latest piece of public art features just some of the cultures found in the Saint John region.
