YMCA of Greater Saint John applauds its volunteers virtually during National Volunteer Week

The YMCA of Greater Saint John is celebrating volunteers virtually this week during National Volunteer Week April 19 to 25. This is an especially important time to take a moment and recognize all those individuals who selflessly dedicate their time and commit to improving the quality of life for others in our communities.
Across the country, this week is dedicated to shedding a light on the efforts of individuals who contribute their time, energy, skills, and ideas to shaping the community. In 2019, over 827 volunteers worked collectively to create impact and help improve the lives of more than 21,000 people in our communities through 20,000+ hours of volunteering with the Y.
The Y would not be able to achieve its vision and mission of building healthier communities without the help and active participation of volunteers. They give time in support of a cause and programs they believe in and ask for nothing in return. Their contributions allow the Y to operate its many programs and locations successfully.
“The volunteers at the Y never cease to amaze me,” said Shilo Boucher, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Saint John.
“Right now, times are tough and life is full of uncertainty. But they are still willing to help us respond to our community in crisis. We appreciate every volunteer because it takes a collaborative effort to make an impact.”
The Y is a charity that has been serving our community for over 165 years. During these unprecedented times, the Y needs volunteers more than ever to be able to serve those most vulnerable in our community.
