YMCA Infant/Toddler Child Care programs offer environments that are safe and stimulating, with caring, supportive caregivers who understand what makes your child special.
Choosing a child care provider is a big decision: you want your baby or toddler to be nurtured and cared for as well as you would do yourself. Our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum provides your little one with a chance to learn and grow through creative play, helping them get ready for a lifetime of learning. This national play-based curriculum combines our decades of experience in child care delivery with the latest body of knowledge on how the brain develops and how children learn.
Kids need a whole community to grow up strong — and when infants and toddlers grow up healthy, our whole community gets stronger. Our programs provide young children with the care and support they need to reach their full potential.
We offer Infant Care/Child Care at the Saint John Regional Y and Early Childhood Hubs, Quispamsis Child Care, Millidgeville Community Centre and the Irving Oil Field House. All of our Child Care and After School locations are licensed facilities.

Playing To Learn Curriculum
Research has shown that the first six years of development are the most crucial years for children’s learning, behaviour, and health. Over time and with ample research, the YMCA has developed a curriculum to support children’s growth in each of these areas.
Our YMCA Playing to Learn Curriculum focuses on learning through play with a particular emphasis on developing child/educator relationships, the classroom environment, and program planning. Our educators use a planning process that involves observing the children at play, documenting these observations, and reflecting on what they have observed in order to extend the children’s learning with the new activities they plan.
Activities are planned in each of the following academic learning categories: Language and Literacy, Visual and Dramatic Arts, Music and Movement, Math and Science, and Gross Motor/Outdoor Skills.
Join the Child Care Waitlists
We are now using a combination of internal and provincial child care waitlists to better manage enrollment and ensure we can find a spot for your child as soon as one becomes available.
To help us with this process, we kindly ask you to:
✅ Enroll your child on the provincial waitlist
✅ Additionally, enroll them on our internal waitlist
This dual enrollment will allow us to track availability more efficiently and keep you informed of any openings.
