YMCA of Greater Saint John engages businesses to connect with newcomers
On Wednesday, April 25, YMCA Newcomer Connections invites local employers to learn more about the services we offer to businesses hiring and working with newcomers. Attendees will learn about Cultural Intelligence training, and Atlantic Immigration Pilot settlement services.
Our evening begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Saint John Arts Centre, 20 Peel Plaza. We’ll be offering light refreshments prepared by members of the newcomer community, and the chance for local business owners to connect with newcomers working in our region. Presentations will get underway shortly after 6 p.m.
Cultural Intelligence is the ability to relate and work effectively in culturally diverse situations. We’ll also provide information on the settlement services we offer through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program – an employer-driven immigration initiative. Y Newcomer Connections staff will be on hand to answer any questions on hiring and working with newcomers.
We want to help employers cast a vision for what a diverse and robust workforce could look like in their business, and engage them in the settlement process for newcomers. There is untapped potential in the newcomer community and we hope to encourage employers in greater Saint John to take a chance and hire the right person for the job based on their experience and talents.
