YMCA Aims to Boost Family Wellness with Free Day of Outdoor Fun
Saint John, NB: The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick is inviting families to step outside, get active, and reconnect with nature this Saturday, July 19, during Healthy Kids Day, a free community event held at the Glenn Carpenter Centre from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Part of a national YMCA initiative, Healthy Kids Day is designed to improve the health and well-being of children and families by encouraging active play and healthy habits during the summer months and beyond. Local YMCAs across Canada host similar events, reflecting a shared commitment to building stronger, healthier communities.
This year’s celebration features a wide variety of outdoor activities for all ages, including canoeing, kayaking, guided yoga, games, prizes, and a barbecue lunch. Families will also have the opportunity to try the Centre’s brand-new inflatable water park.
“The YMCA is committed to being a place where people can build positive health outcomes - physically, mentally, and socially,” said Shilo Boucher, President and CEO of the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick. “Healthy Kids Day is a great example of how we activate that commitment by making wellness accessible, joyful, and community-driven.”
No registration is required, and all activities are free of charge. The Glenn Carpenter Centre is located at 135 Glenn Carpenter Lane, off Foster Thurston Road in Saint John.
