YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick Sets $1.5 Million Fundraising Goal for 2025

Saint John, NB – April 21, 2025 – The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick is proud to announce its 2025 fundraising goal of $1.5 million. With $450,000 already raised, the YMCA is calling on the community to help close the gap and ensure that everyone—regardless of age, background, or financial means—can access the opportunities they need to thrive. In 2024, the YMCA raised an incredible $2.3 million, made over 89,000 meaningful connections through its programs, and supported thousands of individuals through services ranging from fitness and food security to swimming lessons and grief support.

The impact was felt across the region:

  • Poverty Reduction Programs through our South and North Early Childhood Hubs
  • Access to food, due to transportation barriers through our Home Delivery Program
  • Peer-to-peer grief support facilitated at community schools from Sussex to St. Stephen through our Rainbows Program.
  • Connecting older adults and newcomers to programs that support their health and wellbeing and alleviating social isolation.
  • Construction of our Multi-Purpose Outdoor Education Centre at the Glenn Carpenter Centre was completed, and the facility opened in early April 2025.
  • Securing the Future of the Y through the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick Endowment Fund Inc.

“This campaign matters because the need in our community is real and growing,” says Jennifer Yeomans, Chief Development Officer. “Every dollar raised is a lifeline—supporting programs that help people feel safe, connected, and empowered. We’re asking our community to come together and help us make that possible.” The 2025 Campaign will support:

  • $825,000 – Strong Communities Fund: Financial assistance to ensure equitable access to YMCA programs
  • $100,000 – Endowment Fund: Sustaining the YMCA’s mission for future generations
  • $500,000 – Healthy Living Initiative: Expanding programs that support physical and mental well-being
  • $75,000 – Camp Glenburn Upgrades: Enhancing outdoor learning and leadership opportunities

“This campaign is about meeting today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow,” says Shilo Boucher, President and CEO of the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick. “We’re raising funds to ensure no one is turned away because of financial barriers, to support the long-term sustainability of our mission, to expand programs that promote mental and physical wellness, and to invest in spaces like Camp Glenburn that shape the next generation of leaders. Every gift to this campaign is an investment in a healthier, more inclusive future for our entire community.

“The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick invites individuals, businesses, and community partners to be part of this vital campaign. Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference in the lives of those who need it most. For more information or to donate today: swnb.ymca.ca/donate
